Bulldogs open 2025 season with home sweep of De Anza
SAN MATEO – The College of San Mateo women's volleyball team got the 2025 season started with a 3-0 sweep at home over De Anza College on Friday afternoon.
CSM was tested early but took the season opener by scores of 25-19, 25-12, and 25-14 to improve to 1-0.
Freshman Synia Hunt was impressive in her Bulldogs debut as she led the squad with 12 kills. Hunt hit .478 for the match, committing just one error on 23 attempts.
Freshman Addison Turner added 7 kills while sophomore Ekinadese Okhomina added 6 kills. Freshman Alyssa Polanco and sophomore Shuna Hernandez-Elorza split time at set for CSM. Polanco led with 24 assists and Hernandez-Elorza totaled 15 assists.
Sophomore Juliana Mufarreh had a solid all-around effort with 6 digs, 4 kills, and 4 aces while sophomore Kathleen Suayan chipped in with a team-best 11 digs.
San Mateo will look to keep the momentum going on Wednesday (Aug. 27) when the Bulldogs host American River College in a 5 p.m. non-conference match.
